Street Artist Australia
Australian street artist HAPPY DECAY travels throughout Australia creating fun and colourful street art and murals. You can find his work in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional towns.
My focus as a street artist has been making places more enjoyable through a happy bright style of street art that can contribute to a positive urban change.
My clients range from Council organisations around Australia to large brands and smaller community-based projects along with schools in the city and rural towns.
You can view my showcase of street art or I have a selection of my mural artwork below which has influences from street and graffiti art.
Mural Artist
A mural artist is another term for a street artist. Here is a selection of some of my mural work as a street artist in Australia. With street artwork, I like to keep it bright and vibrant. My aim is to create a community space through art that makes the place more enjoyable and positive for people to engage with.
As a street artist, I like to hopefully delight the viewers with the artwork as they see it in the urban environment. Street art is a wonderful tool to make community places more enjoyable and fun.
By using a strategic process combined with a unique creative skillset the aim is to make places within the city and rural-urban environments more beautiful and easy for people to interact with.
Artist training to become HAPPY DECAY
I did my formal training as an artist at the School of Art in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. I focused on printing making, illustration and typography.
Later on, I went and did some additional training at the Canberra Institute of Technology to study graphic design. Here I got to learn about the business of design as well as using software that was good for digital illustration.
I’ve always had the fortune to be able to do illustration work within the design industry. And with my illustration skills and prior painting training, I have branched off into street artwork which is the perfect canvas size I like to work with.
As a street artist, I started by painting walls at friends’ places and other abandoned buildings. I enjoyed a crossover of illustrative and graffiti arts. Sometimes making fabricated walls to practice street artists’ techniques and improve my skillset.
Through street art and illustration skills, I have been able to work on projects for the likes of Prada (collaboration with Adidas), Samsung & the ACT Government.
Here are some more of my street art/mural work based around Australia. Most of my artwork is done around the Sydney and Canberra area. I do travel nationwide and overseas for street art projects.
If you like you can view more of my street art on my website under the showcase section.
I have been known to seriously joke about being a famous street artist in my small little rural town.
