Murals Revitalise a Laneway
Laneway mural artist HAPPY DECAY has been working with street art to rejuvenate laneways around Australia with his colourful quirky style of painting.
Laneway Mural Project in Moruya
This laneway mural placemaking project has helped transform an industrial-feeling public space. It is an ongoing street art project and hopefully will cover over 200m of laneway walls when completed.
The laneway that ducks in behind the Blue Heron cafe in Moruya needed a positive lift by using street art as a tool for placemaking.
The public laneway is an access point for a number of Moruya businesses. A couple of mechanics, tyre service and Mitre 10 and is used as a thoroughfare for people sometimes going to IGA or the markets.
The street art covers a mix of styles from solid block colours to that imaginative realism with detail and texture. The purpose of the mixing of styles is to give a diversity of art for the public to view.
Laneway Murals
Previously the laneway at times had a feeling of neglect so creating a positive revitalisation in the laneway with street art and murals gives it a visual boost for people who use the area.
The laneway street art is also visible from the nearby roundabout which engages the viewer and creates interest in the area.
