To create a mural mockup you can use several direct techniques from pencil to paper or use an iPad with Procreate (only on the iPad) or a computer with similar software.
If you have any questions you can ask them at the bottom of this article.
How to Create a Mural Mockup with Procreate
Creating a mural mockup with Procreate can be done with these 4 things
- Dimensions of the wall
- Mural Artwork
- Photo of the wall
- Combine Mural Artwork with Photo of the Wall
Dimensions of the wall
We use the measurement of the wall so we can create a file with Procreate that is in the same ratio. This means if the wall is 4 metres wide by 2 metres high we can set up our procreate file to be 4000 pixels wide by 2000 pixels high.
This lets us when it comes time to create the mural mockup with the photo of the wall in Step 4.

Mural Artwork
You can create the mural artwork as a new file in Procreate in the same ratio as the wall dimensions. In this case, the new file for the artwork will be 4000 pixels wide by 2000 pixels high.

Photo of the wall
Take a photo of the wall then use this in Procreate to add your artwork file to it.

Combine Mural Artwork with Photo of the Wall
You can do this by either in Procreate copying your artwork file (if you need to make a copy and flatten the artwork first) then copying that layer opening your photo of the wall and adding your artwork layer to it. Position your artwork layer in place over the wall, and resize as need be. Sometimes you may have to use the distort feature of the Procreate select tool.
